CRCA Policy and general COVID related updates

2020-10-25

Masks are required in all public spaces at the Chestermere Recreation Centre. ONE parent/guardian per player.

Hello Hockey Families,

We have some very important updates, please be sure to read each item below carefully and abide by the updated guidelines. We request that all members remain respectful and understanding during the current situation. The CRCA staff are doing their best to keep people safe in the facility.

Updated CRCA Mask Policy

As of Monday, October 26th, 2020, masks will be required in all public spaces at the Chestermere Recreation Centre. If you are actively participating in physical activity or are medically not able, you are not required to wear a face covering. We would ask that you would please not gather in the lobbies and hallways when waiting for children to take skates off. For more information on this policy, please see CRCA’s website at https://www.chestermerecrca.com/face-covering-policy/

Public spaces include:

- Washrooms

- Viewing areas (bleachers)

- Waiting areas

- Lobbies

- Hallways

- Any common public spaces

Do we need to wear masks in the dressing rooms?

CMHA is asking that the parent/guardian wear a mask in the dressing room unless they are part of the cohort as per Hockey Alberta Guidelines. Masks should be worn elsewhere in the facility by everyone other than fields of play (in the dressing room, benches and on the ice).

Entering and Exiting Dressing Rooms

When using dressing rooms 1 and 2 in both rinks athletes should be entering from the blue or red rink and not the hall. This leaves the hall open for athletes using dressing rooms 3 and 4 so less crowding in that tight space. Please follow facility signage.

ONE parent/guardian per player

The amount of spectators in the stands continues to be an issue. If this continues, the CHMA & CRCA may remove all spectators from the arena. Please adhere to the CRCA's rule - ONE parent/guardian per player. Unfortunately this is not the time to have grandparents and friends of families coming to watch. Siblings should not be coming to the rink. If there are extenuating circumstances such as a single parent with multiple children, it is acceptable. Children must be accompanied by a parent at all times, unless they are on the ice.

More information on specific team officials during practices/games is at the end of this email.

Water Bottles & Warm-ups

We would like to remind all parents/guardians not to use the CRCA sinks to fill water bottles. Please bring pre-filled water bottles. If you would like to do an indoor warm up at the facility please contact the CRCA and book a room or the training area before a game. Please email admin@chestermerecrca.com for fees and availability.

Waivers

Mandatory health waivers must be filled out for each ice time for the players and coaches as well as all spectators (parent/guardian and, if required, any sibling). Addition of spectators is available on the waiver form on TeamLinkt. Division coordinators will be monitoring the completion of waivers for both capacity compliance and to ensure COVID protocols are being met. CMHA will start to enforce penalties to families not following these protocols.

We have spoken to the CRCA regarding the specific requirements for Team Staff, they are as follows.

Practices:

For practices, there should only be one parent/guardian per player, this includes coaches and team manager staff families.

Games:

Coaches: As per CAHL’s latest update, they are recommending only two coaches per team in the cohort, (for U7 only: 3 coaches are permitted, as one is required as an official on the ice). This will mean that if a cohort coach is on a bench for the game, the second parent/guardian will be allowed at the facility in case their child needs help for the bathroom or to care for an injury as the coach will not be able to assist. If you are not on the bench for the game, a second parent/guardian is not required at the facility. The coach will be considered a spector and we suggest to families rotate which parents attends games.

Trainers: Trainers are required for all games; the second parent/guardian will be allowed at the facility in case of injury. Trainers will be considered a spector for games and must wear a mask when addressing player injuries.

Managers: Team Managers are responsible for many duties at games (provide information to officials, scoresheet completion, fan control, etc.).  In cases where the manager and a coach/trainer are responsible for a player and are on the same team, both will be required for game days.

Off-Ice Officials: Off-ice officials (timekeeper, scorekeeper, music) are considered a spectator during games. One parent per player rule applies. If the player of an off-ice official requires assistance, it is recommended that each team has a back-up for the position to cover if that individual needs to leave the box.

Please be respectful of these rules so that the kids can have someone cheering them on. You don't want to be the reason parents are not allowed to watch their kids.
