Hello Hockey Families,
Firstly, we would like to thank you for your patience during this volatile hockey season. It has been a very difficult season but your cooperation and fortitude has helped our minor hockey community pull together through this pandemic.
It is with a heavy heart that CMHA had made the decision during the last board meeting to cancel the remainder of the 2020/2021 hockey season effective immediately. Our plan was for hockey to return this season for regular league play, however, with the current restrictions, shortened timelines and ice availability, it is not reasonable to continue.
We would like to thank the coaching staff, players, parents and volunteers for helping the association through this difficult year despite the unfortunate and sudden conclusion to the season. The coaches, managers, volunteers, parents and entire community have also been affected by the second consecutive premature end of a hockey season and we want to continue to thank our volunteers for their dedication and countless hours, both on and off the ice, who continue to support minor hockey in Chestermere.
Please note that Coaches and Managers will be reaching out to all members of their teams to coordinate use of remaining team funds and a few outstanding items.
Refunds
We will be providing more information on the amount and the process for the refunds once we finalize all costs to the association. We will continue to work diligently on the refunds and will provide this information as soon as it is available.
CMHA will do everything in our power to be fair to our members in regards to the refunds for the shortened season. Nevertheless, please understand that there are multiple factors that impact the spend of registration dollars.
Fixed expenses are difficult to recover in the event of a cancelled season, while other expenses may be easier to recuperate (i.e. ice costs). The graph details the CMHA’s typical costs per season. We are currently evaluating fixed costs on a per division / per team basis based on actual ice utilized.
Refunds will be sent out as soon as possible, with all refunds being completed by the end of February 2021.

- Team pictures will still be arranged for any teams that have not yet had them completed for the season. The pictures will be arranged when regulations allow. More information will be provided.
- The 2020/2021 Awards have been cancelled.
